The Huautla Pack was designed for the Huautla Project in Mexico, but we’ve found it to be useful whenever large amounts of gear need to be hauled under difficult conditions. It is especially useful when a combination of dragging, backpacking, and vertical hauling are involved, such as in Ellison’s Cave (it can hold a 700’ rope easily).
The Huautla Pack, made of ballistic nylon with a double thickness in the bottom, is cylindrical in shape and is 35” high by 14.5” in diameter. The throat has a drawstring closure plus a heavier drawcord around the top of the pack. The Huautla Pack has compression straps, padded packstraps, and haul handles at the top, on the sides, and on the bottom.
