A Harness designed for Caving is specially designed. It will generally have a very low center of gravity at or below the waist line. It also has two attachment points instead of one like most rock climbing and rescue harnesses. The purpose of the two attachment points is to lower the attachment point and allow for great flexibility in working with various ascending systems. It is critical that a maillon rapide or other type of quick link be used, instead of a carabiner, on all harnesses of this type to prevent three way loading of a carabiner.
Petzl manufactures several harnesses to suit the needs of each individual caver.
